I think many of you know how much value I place on the friendships in my life. After years of living in various states and especially after building relationships with nomadic journalists, many of my friends are scattered not only around the country, but around the world. It's not as though they're just across the back fence where we can chat daily. Keeping up these connections takes time and commitment, but there's nothing more worthwhile than sharing joys and sorrows, tears and laughter ... and maybe the occasional margarita ... with a good friend. Thus the title for this new blog --JustBetweenFriendsblog.com.

I hope this is a place where you'll feel free to come and chat "over the fence" with new friends who have the same concerns, the same issues, the same joys and the same heartaches that you might face. Some of our entries will make you laugh. Some will be serious, maybe even thought-provoking. Some of our entries will be from experts, but you don't need to be an expert to chime in. You just need to have a thought about the topic, a bit of advice, an experience to share.
